I have developed this activity for my third grade class. In my school district we begin working on career awareness in kindergarten. Each student has a career file that follows him/her throughout the his/her school year. Each grade level has specific objectives that must be met. The printed copies of this activity will be placed in my class's individual career folder.

The third grade objectives are:

1. All third grade students will participate in an agricultural field trip.(To meet this objective all third grades in our district participate in a district-wide field trip in September of each year.)

2. All third grade students will complete an interest survey that will be placed in the career folder.

3. All third grade students will complete at least three other activities to enhance their career awareness. The following lists four activities that I will do.

a. Students will work with partners and develop a list of character traits for a good employee.

b. Students will evaluate three careers.

c. Students will conduct an interview with someone who works outside of the home.

d. Students will research a career and do a written report on it.

These objectives will be met when my students finish this project.
