Description of Course

English 9 is an introduction course to literature: prose, poetry, and drama.  During this course students will read, study and discuss various pieces of literature including classics, like Romeo and Juliet and The Odyssey, and contemporary young adult literature, like Sharon Draper's Tears of a Tiger.  Students will learn the meanings of and how to identify literary terms.  In addition to reading literature students will write essays that focus on various topics.
