The first day of school is totally chaotic, so this year I decided to take it easy.  We SLOWLY went through the daily things.  We talked a lot, learned about the basic classroom procedures, had our morning meeting and listened to stories.

The *special* part of the day was the Magic Play-doh!  All the children got a ball of white play-doh and I told them that if it changed color as they played with it, then they would have a great year!  Of course, everyone's play-doh changed color and they were all thrilled that they were going to have a great year!

I just used a generic homemade play-doh recipe that I found on the internet and then when it was cooled, I made a shallow hole in the middle and put a few drops of food coloring it it.  Then, I carefully covered the hole with more play-doh and put the play-doh in a ziploc bag.  Be careful with the play-doh because if it gets crushed in your bag, then the color will start to bleed and some of the *magic* will be lost!
