“The
highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy,
but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher
plain”
George McGovern
'Work
is not a curse, it is the prerogative of intelligence,
the only means to manhood and the measure of
civilization.'
Calvin Coolidge
After graduating from Lewistown
Area High School, I enrolled as a student at
Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. In
1992, I earned a Bachelors of Science in Social Studies Education and in
1993 added a Certificate in Driver's Education from Lock Haven University.
After an eight year hiatus (except for a few short substitutions), I returned to MCSD during the
2003-2004 school year as a TSS and in 2004-2005 as a teacher
at Indian Valley High School. While at Indian Valley my teaching schedule has
included American History, World Studies, World Cultures, Democracy in Action (D.I.A.),
and
Government and Economics.
Although
returning to teaching was a large adjustment, I also returned to college. After 31 credits
last school year, my Masters in Special Education was completed this past summer.
