Objective:
Students will participate in a comparison shopping
exercise by purchasing food for a local food bank.
Steps:
1.
Each Popular Sovereignty group will be given a specified amount of
money.
2.
Students will go to a local food market and shop for items that are used
often in house holds.
(See qualifying item list)
3.
Students will check out and bag their items. (
Students may use any coupons available during
checkout.)
4.
Students will bring the items back to class and display their items for
class comparison.
Students must have the following items for
comparison:
a. sales receipt
b. items
c. list
of coupons used
d. list
of bonus buy items
5.
Each group will give a 2 minute speech explaining their shopping trip.
6.
The group who has the most items without going over their limit will
earn an extra 10 bonus points for their grade.
