Research Paper: American History

A research paper presents the results of your investigations on a selected topic. Based on your own thoughts and the facts and ideas you have gathered from a variety of sources, a research paper is a creation that is uniquely yours. The experience of gathering, interpreting, and documenting information, developing and organizing ideas and conclusions, and communicating them clearly will prove to be an important and satisfying part of your education.

Assignment: The student will write a 600 word research paper based on an investigation of information about a given topic in American History from 1860-1920. Your paper should be written using a persuasive writing style. Your topic of interest must be approved by the teacher and a guardian/parent.

Requirements:

1. Must be 600 words in length.

2. Use 12pt. font using use Tahoma, Times New Roman, or Ariel. If the student’s home computer does not have any of these fonts the student should use a similar font.

3. Double space the entire paper.

4. Must include a works cited page

5. CAN NOT USE 1^st or 2nd PERSON (you will be docked 2 points for each I or we used)

6. Due Date for Final Draft: February 6, 2008
