Social Issue Research Paper
Step One:
Paper (84 points)
Introduction
A.Each class
member will research and report on case law related to your approved social
issue. You need to research 6 different cases on your topic.
B.These
cases should include courts with original jurisdiction courts, appellate
courts, circuit courts, and the Supreme Court.
C.For
each case a synopsis will be given and the decision will be described.
Also, the class member should describe how this case has set precedent.
Finally, a discussion should be written to describe the implication of each
case for society.
D.The paper is due February 13 , 2007
Writing Requirements
A. Minimum Length: 2 full pages
Maximum Length: 4 full pages
E. Must have 1 quote and
3 paraphrases
(can not consider case synopsis as a paraphrase.)
F. Must not use
Wikipedia. If a student is found using Wikipedia he/she will
automatically receive half credit for their paper.
Step 2: Trifold Project
Board (56 points)
A.Using the
information found during research the student will design a 3-fold project
board.
B.Information
from each case should be included on the board. The student should also
include propaganda from interest groups, pictures, and a synopsis of how
these cases have redefined the norms of society.
C.The student
will explain the implications of the cases researched and be able to answer
questions concerning the implications on society.
D.Due
February 21, 2007
