April 11-13, 2008 the "Marching Warriors" traveled to the
"City of Brotherly Love-" PHILADELPHIA, PA! What a fantastic trip!! On
Friday, after eating lunch at the "Hard Rock Cafe," the students toured
the PA Academy of Fine Arts, took a walking tour of historic Philadelphia
including Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell complex, and the National
Constitution Center where they saw a moving live presentation entitled
"Freedom Rising," and attended a Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs
major league baseball game. Saturday, the "Marching Warriors"
performed wonderfully in front of the historic "Bourse" building in center
city. After shopping and eating lunch at "The Bourse," the students
headed off to the Franklin Science Institute where, in addition to all the
great touch and see scientific attractions, they were treated to an IMAX
presentation of the film "Space Station." The students then had a
filling dinner at the "Spaghetti Warehouse" and took a walking "Ghost
Tour" through Society Hill and the historic district of the city.
Our theatrical guides provided a fun -and spooky- evening trek through
some of the oldest and most haunted places in the center city area.
The final day of our trip allowed more travel time through some cool
places including "South Street" and a jaunt along the Delaware River prior
to a guided tour through the campus of Temple University. The
students finished the trip with an afternoon filled with wild
experiences at America's First Zoo- "The Philadelphia Zoo."
Our weather was far better than the forecast predicted and everyone had a
fun and memorable time. |
