Critical Evaluation of a Website
Adapted from: Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators

There is no protocol for publishing information on the World Wide Web.  How do you know if the website is one you should use?  There are four things to consider.

Is the website:

Relevant- Is it connected with or having to do with the point or for what you are looking?

Reliable- Is it dependable or trustworthy?  Who is responsible for the website?

Current- Is the website up-to-date?  When was it last updated?

Readable- Is the text clear enough to read?  Is the page well organized with headings and labels.  If there are pictures, are they helpful?  Do the links work?
