FRAMEWORK FOR ASSESSMENT TASKS

1.    Write out the Mifflin County School District benchmark on which the assessment task will focus.

2.    Write the title of the assessment task which will engage students in demonstrating this benchmark. Describe the task.

3.    What observable and measurable performance criteria will be used to judge what students know and/or can do?

Recognize and label statements of fact within the article.

Recognize and label statements of opinion within the article.

Be able to justify your choices.

Create sentences that show opinion.

4.    Design a rubric or checklist to assess the task. Indicate the criteria needed for mastery.

From an article, find examples of statements that are facts and others that are opinions. Explain or justify the answers. Mastery will be determined by accuracy.
