2. Write the title of the assessment task which will engage students in demonstrating this benchmark. Describe the task. Persuasive Letter to Principal Students will brainstorm school-related issues (ideas) to persuade. Prewriting will include gathering facts and opinions as well as discussions and (possibly) polls and/or questionnaires. A writing sample that meets the criteria of persuasion will be submitted. 3. What observable and measurable performance criteria will be used to judge what students know and/or can do? Discussion of acceptable topics Pre-writing notes, questions, etc. Writing sample that meets criteria (rubric) 4. Design a rubric or checklist to assess the task. Indicate the criteria needed for mastery.
