LAHS Band Director being honored at PMEA State
Festival in April |

Arthur F. Belfiore,
Band Director at Lewistown Area High School, will be
recognized for achieving the milestone of 25 years of
service in teaching music during the PMEA All-State
Concert held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the
Hershey Theatre in Hershey, PA.
Belfiore has taught in
the following schools:

Clearview Jr-Sr HS,
Lorain, OH--2 years
Concord-Carlisle
Regional HS, Concord, MA--1 year
George Fox MS, Pasadena,

When asked what he is
most proud of during his years of teaching he states,
"Being selected by my peers as the recipient of the "PMEA
District 4 Citation of Excellence" in 2002.

LES Students selected to participate in
Elementary Songfest 2008
Lewistown Elementary
School is very proud to announce this year's PMEA
Elementary Songfest participants. They will take part
in the Songfest concert, to be held at Forbes Road
School District, Friday, April 11. Students taking
part are: (left to right) Janelle Fisher, R.J.Kerstetter,
Emily Curto, and Jackson Searer.

LAHS Students selected to participate in
Regional
Band 2008
Lewistown Area High School is pleased to announce
that 5 instrumental music students will be representing
Mifflin County at PMEA Region III Band 2008! The festival
will be held at Hollidaysburg Junior High School from
February 20-23, 2008. Dr. Ryan Nelson, Associate Director of
Bands at Northwestern University will be the guest
conductor for the festival. Representing LAHS: Emilee Geedey on Flute I, Kristin Barger on Bass
Clarinet, Mary Bielski on Bassoon II, Sarah Siddons on
Cornet II, and Kristen Stufft on French Horn II. Congratulations to these fine
musicians!

IVHS Students selected to participate in
Regional
Band 2008
Indian Valley High School is pleased to announce
that 3 instrumental music students will be representing
Mifflin County at PMEA Region III Band 2008! The festival
will be held at Hollidaysburg Junior High School from
February 20-23, 2008. Dr. Ryan Nelson, Associate Director of
Bands at Northwestern University will be the guest
conductor for the festival. Representing IVHS: Alesia Mauery
on French Horn III, Kristyn Orndorf on Clarinet I, and
Kris Wagner on Trombone III. Congratulations to these
fine musicians!

Jazz Band 2008
Lewistown Area High School is pleased to announce
that 3 instrumental music students will be representing
Mifflin County at District Jazz Band 2008! The festival
will be held at West Branch High School from January
31- February 2, 2008. Among the guest
conductors for the festival will be Dr. William
Stowman, Director of Instrumental Studies at Messiah
College and Dr. H.
Michael Galloway, Professor and Director of the
Mansfield University Jazz Ensemble. Representing LAHS:
Sarah Siddons on
Trumpet, Kristen Stufft on French Horn, and Jon
McKee on Guitar. Congratulations to these fine
musicians! |
IVHS Students selected to participate in District
Chorus 2008
Indian Valley High School is pleased to announce
that 11 choral music students will be representing
Mifflin County at District Chorus 2008! The
festival will be held at McConnellsburg High School from
February 6-9, 2008. Nicole Aldrich, a doctoral
candidate at the University of Maryland will be the
guest conductor for the festival. Representing
IVHS: Caitlyn Boyer-Soprano I, Amy Eldredge-Soprano II,
Haley Spigelmyer-Alto I, Lauren Peightel-Alto II, Justin
Araway-Tenor I, David Wright-Tenor I, Ezekiel
Coffey-Tenor II, John Cottrill-Bass I, Jesse Crosson-Bass
I, Kyle Orndorf-Bass II, Tobin Simonetti-Bass II.

9-12, 2008. Professor Dennis Glocke, Director of
Bands at Penn State University will be the guest
conductor for the festival. Representing LAHS:
Emilee Geedey on Flute I, Hannah Moore on Oboe II,
Michelle Henry on Clarinet I, Kristin Barger on Bass
Clarinet, Mary Bielski on Bassoon II, Sarah Siddons on
Cornet II, Kristen Stufft on French Horn II, Cierra
Knepp on Trombone III, Courtney Labatia on Tuba, and
Nathan Brune on Percussion. Congratulations to
these fine musicians! |
