The Indian Valley Ensemble, under the
direction of Sherry D. Morgan, has been selected to perform at
the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State
Conference at Valley Forge in March, 2006.
The
group, chosen out of 170 audition entries in 35 different
musical categories, is to be one of only 25 performing groups of
various genres of choral and instrumental music representing
elementary, middle school, high school, collegiate and community
performing groups for the three day event.
This is the sixth conference performance
the IVHS Ensemble has been privileged to earn since 1998, having
appeared three times at the PMEA All-State conference, the Music
Educators National Conference Eastern Division Convention in
Providence, Rhode Island, the American Choral Directors
Association (ACDA)Eastern Division Convention in Pittsburgh and
the ACDA Summer Conference at Penn State University. The group
has also participated in the Heinz Chapel Chamber Choir Festival
at the University of Pittsburgh and will make a return
engagement in 2007.
Twenty students in grades 9-12 have earned
the privilege of participating in the Ensemble this year. They
meet every Monday evening for two hours of group rehearsal and
are responsible for perfecting the selected repertoire on their
own time. |
