| Mrs. Morgan is a graduate of Lewistown Area High School,
Mansfield University and is currently a student working on her Masters
degree at Penn State University. She is in her twentieth year as choral
director at Indian Valley High School. She directors the Senior High
Choir, the Indian Valley Ensemble and other small vocal ensembles. She
also teaches Advanced Music Concepts, a course designed to prepare the
future music major for college entrance. Her groups specialize in a
cappella literature of all periods of music history and all students are
taught the necessary skills to become independent music readers and
vocalists. She previously taught two years of general classroom music in
the Mifflin County School District and taught music for a year at
Belleville Mennonite School. She has served as the Region Chair for the American Choral Directors
Association and is currently the Immediate Past President of Pennsylvania Music
Educators Association District 4, having served as President of the
district from 2004-2006 and also the Region Chair of PMEA Region III from
2005-2006.
Morgan's choirs have appeared an a
number of PMEA All-State Conferences (as recently as 2006), the MENC All-Eastern Conference, the
ACDA Summer Conference, the ACDA Eastern Division Conference and the Heinz
Chapel Chamber Choir Festival. . She is a
multiple nominee to Who's Who In America's Teachers and the 1998 recipient
of the Citation of Excellence in PMEA District 4. She was the guest
conductor for the Clearfield County Choral Festival in October 2002. She was named to "The Chancellor's List," a national publication
that recognizes excellence in graduate studies. She was recently nominated
for "Who's Who Among American Women." She is frequently invited
to speak, as an expert in her field, on creating an outstanding program in
a rural school.
The Indian Valley Ensemble made a return engagement to the
Heinz Chapel Chamber Choir Festival in February of 2007.
She has conducted on two tours with the United States Ambassadors of
Music, the first tour being of the British Isles and the second, the
Hawaiian Islands.
She served as the Sanctuary Choir director and organist at Lewistown
Presbyterian Church, having recently resigned that position she held since
1991 to pursue other interests.. She is a frequent soloist and accompanist
in the area. She is a native of Mifflin County and is married to
John D. Morgan, a music educator from York, PA. They enjoy spending time
with their five cats, Max, Oscar, Sterling, Dorian and Lydian and are
enjoying their new home in Thompsontown.
