Tech. Ed. Classes Offered at Our School Technology Education
classes at Strodes Mills Middle School are for grades 7 and 8. Tech. Ed. classes
are only half of the year, which would be 45 classes. 7th graders will do a
screen printing, a leather project, a wood project, an acrylic project, and they
will draw 3-dimensional objects. 8th graders will do a structural bridge project
and a shelf project. Course Summary 7th graders need to know that information technologies involve encoding, transmitting, receiving, storing, retrieving, and decoding. They should also know the physical technologies of structural design, analysis and engineering, finance, production, marketing, research, and design. They need to explore the use of basic tools, simple materials and techniques to safely solve problems. They must learn how to select appropriate instruments to study materials. They should be able to use a basic computer software. And they need to know that people select, create, and use science and technology and that they are limited by social and physical restraints. 8th graders need to be able to explain information technologies of encoding, transmitting, receiving, storing, retrieving, and decoding. Also, they need to be able to explain physical technologies of structural design, analysis and engineering, finance, production, marketing, research, and design. They should be able to explain the safe use of tools, materials and techniques to answer questions and solve problems. They need to know the appropriate instruments and apparatus to study materials. And they need to be able to explain sciences and technologies are limited in their effects and influences on society.
